Markus Grindel
Senior Vice President, Global Licensing & Marketing Director
In his role as Brand Offi cer Europe for Playboy’s global licensing group, Markus Grindel is responsible for consistent brand communication and marketing of Playboy’s European businesses including broadcast, new media, location-based entertainment and international publishing. He ensures that Playboy’s brand values are refl ected by all licensees and partners across media platforms, while identifying and evaluating strategic growth opportunities, brand-expansion possibilities and asset capitalisation. Opening the fi rst cross-divisional London-based European headquarters in September 2006, he continues to deepen and expand consumer relationships across divisions to further the future growth of Playboy’s European business.
Joining Playboy Enterprises, Inc in 2000, Markus also has served as Vice President, Playboy.com, where he developed and implemented the entertainment group’s online and wireless businesses. In this position, he pioneered strategic development and identifi ed and negotiated online and wireless alliances around the world, overseeing the successful launch of commercial and promotional websites, as well as wireless services across all carriers in more than 20 countries.
Prior to working at Playboy, Markus held senior-level positions with a variety of organisations ranging from start-up ventures to Fortune 500 corporations such as Buena Vista International, Walt Disney’s German distributor. During this time, he was responsible for developing, negotiating and managing multi-year, multi-million dollar alliances with technology and media companies ranging from MTV to Hutchison Whampoa.
